Maybe go to your local mechanic and ask if they sell any of their customers cars. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned was a 96 Jeep Cherokee with 120k miles on it. I bought it from my family mechanic and they had all of the service records.

This was my first project car ever. I bought it from a guy on Craigslist who collected stunt cars. A lot of body of work and major fixes. I sold this hunk of junk in 2011. Not sure where it resides or who owns it. One Halloween as an 18 year old - I was dressed as Batman for the lolz
