I record 2560x1440 and the files get HUGE so I don't record unless I need to.
I suppose you already know but most software let you save just the last minute. File is smaller then.
I've just been using the NVIDIA recording software - do you have a suggestion for something better? I'd appreciate it!
Just use OBS and make private livestreams on Youtube whenever you're playing.
I use the same. There is an option to capture the last X minutes by pressing a set of keys. You need to turn on the overlay, Alt+Z to open the menu and take a look at the video capture options.

How do adjust the default 30 seconds video capture to something more? Nothing via online searches have been successful.
You need to turn off the Instant Replay then you will be able to access the settings. Once you are done, you turn on the Instant Replay again. Look at this video :
