Complaint Handled Complaint from benihana3 about player SaintRambo

Who are you reporting? SaintRambo

Date of incident Feb 13, 2025

Which server were you on? BZ1

Describe the incident Hey Cold, I have a question about the intent of the attacking uncap rule, just for my personal education.
(didn't feel like it was worth making a whole new thread, as it was related to this same type of complaint)
The incident in question is linked below:

If I had stayed on the carrier without ever taking off, and they continued to laze and rocket- my understanding is they would be at fault for attacking uncap.
But since I lifted and attempted to land behind the bridge of the carrier to repair, does the rule still apply? If we're not completely capped, do I need to engage with a target in order to not be protected? Or is simply taking off from the carrier enough to be considered fair game for the enemy?

SaintRambo has received a punish point.

So the video you have is a clear example of attacking uncap unprovoked. You never took off and instantly began getting locked and fired upon. While you did eventually take flight, you truly didn't gain very much altitude to classify it as leaving uncap. The reason why you're still protected by the uncap rule is because of the follow reasons:
  • Never left spawn and you were a fresh spawn
  • Never fired a weapon or used equipment
Had you left the uncap, return at any point, fire from inside the uncap, or even attempt to "fly to the moon" while in uncap, you would've been fair game. Unfortunately for Saint, he found himself getting a punish point because of his lack of discipline and attacking uncap. If we knew who exactly was lazing into the uncap, then they too would be punished for that behavior as it baits others to fire into uncap unprovoked in most cases.

If there are any further questions, let me know and I'd be happy to answer them for you.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I feel a bit bad for Saint, as he clearly wasn't the only one- he just happened to fire the final shot. Your definition matches my current understanding of the rules, but that's why I wanted to bring it up- to ensure I wasn't missing a component regarding the intent of the rules. Thanks :)
