New Player, keep getting kicked by admins/ banned on 1 server

Hello, just bought bf4 on steam less than an hour or so. Decided to play my childhood favorite game. To my surprise there are still A lot servers/players. The only ones that have low ping/high player count, are the ones you maintain. Now I keep joining multiple servers, and I keep getting kicked before I load in. Do I have to pay or something? I’m confused

If you just installed the game, you will need to update your Punkbuster. That is the game's anticheat, and sadly it doesn't come with the updated version from Steam/EA.

Using the link provided below, download both the setup and service installers (PBSetup and PBSVC). Run both of those while your game is closed, and you should be all set.

Hello, so i followed the steps and got everything set up, when trying to update punkbuster for bf4, I get hit with an error #0111 could not convert { file name} to during htm conversion

You might need to uninstall/remove and try again.

Here's an old EA forum posting with the steps laid out, it's written for BF3 but its essentially the same for BF4.

Whenever I have PB problems it is usually just pbsvc that needs to be run, I avoid pbsetup whenever possible.

I had to reinstall of BF4 recently and can confirm that the version of Punkbuster included is in fact out of date, so running the PBSetup application from Even Balance's website is necessary.

While I don't recall, I may have had this same error pop up when updating my Punkbuster, but haven't had any issues with it since running both applications. Likely just a silly error that you shouldn't worry about.

There is a LOT of unnecessary steps involved in this for such a SIMPLE fix regarding Punkbuster...

Anything Punkbuster related, especially after a fresh install of the game, should involve you going to their website and getting the setup and service installers from there. NEVER, I repeat, NEVER utilize the Punkbuster applications included in the game files as those are obviously obsolete and out of date...

Plus you're jumping the gun NewPlan and assuming that the error Waddup was getting is still preventing them from even being able to play the game. They simply mentioned the error they were getting when updating Punkbuster. There hasn't been a follow-up response acknowledging being able to join a server and not getting kicked after a few minutes of gameplay. Let's handle this one step at a time instead of throwing a ton of senseless information at the guy at once...

I also found multiple cases of this popping up in our logs. This would be the reason for the kicks...
