Smart. It's also a good legal protection against searches and seizures. Your face, eyes, and fingerprints face far less legal scrutiny than your testimony. You can be compelled to unlock a phone or device with your hand or face but ( in most circumstances ) you can not be compelled to produce a password from memory.
