Temp Ban Ban Appeal: ithinkimabunny

In-game Name ithinkimabunny

Have you cheated before? No

What's your side of the story as to why you were banned? Looks as thought I was banned for 24 hours based on in-game footage from this report (i guess??):
https://banzore.com/forums/threads/complaint-from-fluffmuffin94-about-player-pterodactylwhoa.13837/

Before I return fire (into enemy uncap) you can clearly see in the video tank or other HP machine gun fire coming from uncap. (It was a tank.)

Am I to understand that it is not permissible to return fire against enemy firing out of uncap?

Why should we lift your ban? I was provoked from fire coming from within uncap and so it seems reasonable I should return fire.

Kick reason (from Battlelog) targeting uncap

I have checked and verified that I am not banned at https://bf4db.com Yes

You were temp banned based on the amount of reports on you for firing upon uncap, there were enough to warrant a temporary ban.
That instance mentioned in the report above alone did not lead to your 1 day temp ban, regardless of what your target was, it appeared that you could've been gunning for the planes that were freshly spawned on the runway but your tv timed out.
See 1:52 and 5 seconds prior.
But as you stated, you could have been targeting the tank who was firing out.
Please read https://banzore.com/forums/threads/bf4-server-rules-2020.6732/ and be more careful about firing near the enemy uncap in the future.

I'm not a great shot with the TV missile. I was not targeting *anything* per se.

Far be it from me to tell you how to administrate your server(s).

That being said, I imagine you deal with a lot of reports of this type. Given it is nearly impossible to ascertain the true intentions of someone firing into uncap, as long as you allow firing out of the uncap you will deal with related matters.

You indicate there are other reports. They are unadjudicated and therefore without merit. I will freely admit that I have fired into uncap on MANY occasion. The reason being someone is firing out (typically a whinny AA driver who proceeds to park their tank deep in uncap). It could be anyone that then notes the (potential) rule violation and makes a report. Their comments are meaningless without further investigation.

I notice you do not respond to my questioning with respect to allowance for firing into uncap to return fire. You're an experienced BF4 player. Certainly you have reviewed the video and have see the shots coming from uncap.

I have review the link you have provided, it states:

2: ATTACKING UNCAP IS NOT ALLOWED (Conquest Only)
Don't attack the enemy's uncappable base (main base). If they fire out you can return fire.

They fired out; I returned fire: allowed. Where exactly have I done wrong again? It is not clear to me.

The easiest solution would be to apply a symmetrical expectation:
1) Do NOT fire out of uncap.
2) Do NOT fire into uncap.

If you are going to fire into base you need to make sure that you're targeting the right target.
You cannot expect me to know that you shot and didn't mean to.

As for your question, yes you can return fire into the enemies uncap if they fire out.
You are only allowed to shoot at the enemy who fired out or is using equipment in their uncap.
You can also target uncap when the enemy is all capped but as soon as they start capping flags back you cannot continue to target uncap.
I understand your point but when a player has over 30 reports for attacking uncap, something is definitely going on. Either you're running the line between being within our rules or you are breaking them.
It's a 1 day temp ban to have this little chat with you regarding our rules.

If you agree that the video clearly shows you firing towards the plane taking off, and you understand why that action is against our rules I think I would consider pardoning you.

>>If you are going to fire into base you need to make sure that you're targeting the right target.

Hypothetical: 5 guys are in uncap moving toward the playing field. At least one is firing at me. I need to stop, positively identify who is firing out, and direct my fire only against the person firing out.

What do you think the other 4 players are going to do? Hint: they're going to fire against me.

You cannot expect me to know that you shot and didn't mean to.

Similarly, you cannot expect the player being fired upon to know with certainty who is firing out.

This is what happens when you apply a non-symmetrical rule as you have.

Firing OUT is allowed. Firing IN is only allowed under certain circumstances, specifically in that you must first be fired upon.

This reminds me of the asinine Rules of Engagement from Afghanistan. No firing unless you've been fired upon and then and ONLY then can you proportionally respond. No, having a weapon pointed at you is not enough... they have to FIRE at you before you can defend yourself.

As I previously stated, you're looking at 30 reports of me return fire, most likely against an AA parked deep in uncap, but we'll never know as there is no specificity attached.

It's a 1 day temp ban to have this little chat with you regarding our rules.

So the 1 day temp ban is for the rules (non-)violation or for daring to question the meaning behind the temp ban? I confused.

I never agreed to such.

I understand plenty. The rules are unnecessarily complex. As I previously stated, the correct approach is:
1) Do NOT fire out of uncap.
2) Do NOT fire into uncap.

All of this would be entirely avoided.

This is all very logical.

You realize you are playing a game right?
I don't care if you don't agree with our rules.
There's a reason the enemy is protected within their base and you are inconvenienced while trying to fire in.

The easiest and most simple solution is not to fire upon the enemy uncap unless you are absolutely certain you are within the rules.

Your 1 day ban is from the clip of you shooting into the enemy base in the direction of a plane taking off (see 1:52
)
in addition to the mass amount of reports against you.
Those reports aren't as reputable as complaints with video evidence but the sheer amount against you speaks volumes.
Take your 1 day and walk it off, if you don't agree with our way of operating (That's been working for years) go play elsewhere.
We won't miss you.
