External Ban Ban Appeal: Rambunctiousq

In-game Name Rambunctiousq

Have you cheated before? no

What's your side of the story as to why you were banned? I just bought this battlefield license and played on a fresh build of windows and I was immediately banned. Truthfully, I had another account that was banned almost 3 years ago that somehow racked up a gamehack ban and I haven't been able to play since. One night when I was playing, I switched my display to my oculus headset for fun and it triggered punkbuster. I was really hoping to rejoin and play with a fresh start, but the banzor servers are now detecting that I should be banned and i am unsure why. I really do not know what I could possibly have on my freshly built OS that would trigger a ban.

Why should we lift your ban? I am on a brand new game license with a brand new build for windows with a fresh account that I just set up. I have done nothing to cheat in game and I do not know what would trigger a ban with all of that being said. Being suspended from playing for 3 years even on an old account I would think is long enough. I just want to play again.

Kick reason (from Battlelog) punkbuster trigger detected.

I have checked and verified that I am not banned at https://bf4db.com No

Looks like 6 days ago you logged into our server with this account: https://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/soldier/Mangoloriann/stats/836566215/pc

That account has a PB ban that you can appeal located here: https://www.pbbans.com/mbi-guid-search-58f83b0147cd0d4799475002ae485551.html

Unfortunately we do not whitelist for punkbuster bans, which is affecting both of your accounts due to them being linked. You would have to successfully appeal the ban on your other account to be able to play on our servers.

I guess at this point I am confused how the accounts were even linked at any point? I just bought this new license on a completely different email with a completely different battlelog account and just started playing. Thanks for the information, I will try again to contact pbbans but they suck a** at replying to anything ever.

I'm not fully convinced on the linked accounts mention. I have been able to play successfully on my new account (rambunctiousq) on other servers.

I also double checked on my EA account with rambunctiousq and it says I am not linked to the old banned account (mangoloriann)

The linking of accounts does not depend on the origin, steam, battlelog, or what hardware you play from. It should be enough by the fact that I know what account is your other one, but I've attached some images that should show you the linkage.

Image one shows the link, image two shows how you attempted to log in with your banned account to our servers several days ago.

Ah ok I see what you are saying. At that point, I had attempted to login under that account to see if the ban was still in place. I had tried an appeal with PB and tried updating and reinstalling the punkbuster service. Obviously that changed nothing with that account.

My alternative at this point, was to reinstall windows in a 2 birds 1 stone scenario. I needed to reinstall anyways. After that I bought a new license in hope that I could just move on an play again under a new alias (not cheating obviously). What bothers me, is specifically how you are still banning me based on my old account. I am guessing by IP address. Is there any reason to still ban the new account?

During this process I have just been doing trial and error to play again. I do not want to cheat, I just want to play the game again. I would not spend money on a 3rd license key at this point if I had planned to cheat and ultimately get banned again.

Correct, the two accounts are linked by IP address. That is why the automatic system flagged the "new" account for the ban of the "old." As I said, we do not whitelist for Punkbuster bans, which is being applied to both of your accounts in a way. Anticheat agencies for battlefield aim to ban the player, not specific accounts. If you were to successfully appeal with punkbuster, we will lift the ban for both accounts that our automatic system has given you based on your ban over at punkbuster.

I understand what you are saying. Well that sucks. Does PB ever actually respond? I've been asking them "pretty please" for almost 3 years now with not a single response. It just seems like a dead end of service support.

Also, you guys are tracking my banned account from PB through IP address and yet I am still able to play on the new account on other non Banzor servers? But with all of that you do not whitelist on your servers with PB bans.

I do appreciate someone finally talking to me about this nightmare issue. I'm just frustrated that I cannot start fresh and move on. I understand you are also just doing what you can since its automatically enforced also. I apoligize if some of my commentary seems excited I've just about lost my S***t with this since I don't understand what caused my ban in the first place.

Again, thank you for actually talking to me.

Unfortunately their response rate does seem to be reducing as the years go by. If you are able to play on other servers, they likely are not enforcing punkbuster ban-lists. Otherwise, their systems haven't logged the ban on your other account and cannot associate it via IP since you have yet to log in to their servers. With ours, you logged in with both accounts from the same IP, so it tied them together.

I've included another link on your PB ban here: https://www.pbbans.com/mbi-view-ban-425314.html

It seems that they banned you with the evidence: PBSV: VIOLATION (GAMEHACK) #81686: Mangoloriann (slot #33) Violation (GAMEHACK) #81686 [58f83b0147cd0d4799475002ae485551(-) 66.232.*.*:3659]

I hope to help answer your questions, we get issues like this time to time where there isn't clear evidence publicly posted by punkbuster, so we can't review it ourselves to disagree or whitelist individuals. With the PB ban that you have, I cannot review any footage or logs pertaining to the ban to necessarily grant an appeal.

I completely understand. Yeah they just had that vague game violation for a game hack. Literally the only thing that I can think of what caused this was my Oculus Rift S headset.

At the time of my initial ban in 2020, I remember looking at a post on reddit about people posting their experience with non vr games being tried on a vr headset. I remember seeing this one about pikmen in particular:

From what I gathered, a person could run a game on their VR headset display and it would obviously not be optimized for it but it was a funny experience regardless. I thought to try it out late one night with battlefield and specifically try to fly a jet in first person. See how dizzy I can make myself or something. I tried it out on a server and I'm pretty sure I was kicked after a bit. I woke up the next day to play and noted I was banned on every server I tried to join.

The only thing that makes sense to me, is that pb was triggered by something with my Oculus. Maybe a driver? I'm not sure of the exact mechanisms of it but its my best guess.

Thanks for your communication. I might just have to deal with limited servers and be glad I can play at least a little now. I might try another appeal again but yeah it seems like pb is a dying service.

Happy Thanksgiving.

That very well could be the cause for it all. Punkbuster is hit or miss on whether or not it likes certain softwares. Let us know if you have any additional questions, happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
