*This is quite alot to read but stick with me for this one please
Prelum:
This is mainly an idea I had wich may perhaps bring in a few new members, donations and boost the reputation of our community. Oh, and its also FUN as hell! Keep in mind im tired as hell when writing this so there will be a few typos.
Pitch:
For the next and last expantion for BF4 there is a great oportunity for having an open community event involving abit more coordinated gameplay on a large scale. The main idea I had was to try and actually have some organized squads and commanders for the Conquest Large gametype. To often do we see that commanders are basicly useless in hardcore mainly because they might only have one or (if lucky) two squads following orders. And squads are often spread out - NOT sticking together like a squad should (for the most part). Since we have long time to plan, prepare and promote an event like this I feel that we should grab it.
Preperation:
Finding the right roles as commanders etc can be done with a pure signup and "test". Even a shitty commander can learn how to do the job better, how to time his resources to counter the other team and/or help his own. Having however wants try to be squadleader (like in TWL) and get his squad to play like a team instead of pure public ShootEmUp gamestyle. We could try and contact other smaller communities to join in on this, aswell as the job of promoting this from early on in the server - get pubbers on TS and have them WANT to play with us when we are trying out squadleaders. From personal experience this game is twice as good when you are working intensly as a team. Having workshops and brainstorming to try and utilize what we got to offer. Needless to say there is a big chance BZ will have to play on both teams, so smile! You get to shoot your buddies in the face with an RPG whilst knifing his buddy! A big part of the prep is the promotion. I strongly doubt we will be able to get two full teams who are organized, but I will sure as hell TRY! - more to come
Promotion:
Promoting the event is KEY for succsess! We will OFC have some dormant members show up the first week of the expantion, but that wont cut it. Trying to reach out to smaller groups/clans to join in on an event like this will surely help. Aswell as promoting it on both our servers, homepage and trying to get some of the pubbers on TS. Having a pubber or two come on TS and putting them in the squad with us- and that squad working well with a good setup will heavily increase the odds of that pubber to want to join the event. - more to come
Execution:
Teamspeak will be overflowing with chatter even if the teams divide in to two groups. So utilizing the whispre function between teamleaders and commander in seperate channels will be a good solution. Giving each squad their own channel, and their leader (and ONLY their leader) can talk directly to the commander across the channels. This will also give the commander something to actually do as he is not only monitoring the map, using the scans and whatnot, but relaying info between squads and organizing his units. Dont forget- we will have some randoms who will play full on public style to lessen the blow of having to coordinate everything by urself. Having the teamleaders make squads, have them fill up. When both teams are more or less set to go do a quick mapchange or something to get it going (without scramble!!!!!!!). -more to come
The carrot:
Doing this will give us a chance to play BF the way it is supposed to be played. And will hopefully give us some fun and good moments- aswell as alot of footage for a lil video for everyone to look back on. However to up the anti abit, and to give us more then just the gameplay to look foreward to I suggest a price for the team that won -- lets say 2/3 maps. Perhaps 1month of priority queue on the Allmaps server? i dont know. havent really thought it thru enough or talked about it with yall.
Final words: If we decide to do this and do it well- it requires a community effort, ideas, solutions, backup plan incase somethiing goes wrong etc. If we can pull it off - we allready kind of have a template on how to do it next time, learn from our mistakes and perhaps be a community that gets abit more known for some epic gameplay moments, cuz FUCK TWL hardcore gamestyle. This is pure out FUN!. So if this even sparks your interest, please please please post some response here, ideas, pros/cons. I was thinking of having a workshop on this next saturday around 9pm EST on TS for those who feel like it. what ya think?
