Recently there has been an issue regarding prolific use of slurs in our Battlefield servers. In past, we have been lenient on our enforcement of our rule against those individuals, as we did not have an issue with the occasional slur. There has been an upswing in the number of slurs and obvious derogatory marks seen in our server chat and we are taking action to curb this. We believe a change to Rule #2 of our Battlefield servers would be the best way to make this change.
Rule #2 of our servers currently reads as:
2: OVEREXCESSIVE SPAM OF CHAT!
This includes but is not limited to "troll" like behavior, especially when inciting conflict based on race, religion, or politics.
The follow changes will be made to Rule #2:
2: ABUSE OF IN-GAME CHAT!
This includes but is not limited to: repeatedly sending the same message ad nauseam in game; sending messages viewed as "spam"; advertising other servers or recruiting for other clans; flagrant use of slurs generally observed to be offensive to a group, ethnicity, gender, or otherwise; and the use of macros to type things into the in game chat box.
We don't want to ruin people's ability to have fun with their friends or people they game with, however, we as seeking to curb an issue that has been cropping up more and more recently.
-Example: Poking fun at someone by calling them a "tankfag" is okay, until it is deemed as either an issue or as innapropriate, then we ask you to cease the actions. However, typing in global chat "GET OUT OF THE TANK YOU FUCKING FAG" is not acceptable behavior, especially when it as seen as obviously antagonistic.
As such, we are making the above change to Rule #2 to our server rules, for both Battlefield 4 All Maps as well as Battlefield 4 Metro/Locker/Pearl 24/7. We believe this change will allow us as admins to identify people who are causing issues or harassing other players in our server with greater ease, and should allow for a better environment in our servers for everyone.
