To be fair you were considerably far above your uncap (at least half of the main tower's height) before you were engaged in combat. We hold the stance that once you reach a certain height (those buildings for example) you've effectively left uncap. The uncap rule is there to protect you from being obliterated the second you spawn, you had ample time to leave without issue and again, gained reasonable altitude (since Siege has a relatively low sky ceiling).
