Constant loss of game audio BF4.

It used to be sporatic, like once a day maybe or once every 10 games. Now its EVERY. SINGLE. GAME.

Heres roughly what happens. I launch into BF4, i have discord open with some friends while we play BF4.
I get into a game, play one MAYBE 2 matches. Ill have a 2 second freeze frame kind of lag. Then suddenly
ill be moving again like normal only Ive lost all game audio. Still have voice chat on discord.

If i go to desktop with game still running, ill have audio in other programs. If i quit and re launch BF4, it works but
again ill lose audio in 1 match or sometimes sooner. Ive tried running with no voice chat at all, discord closed and same thing.
Usually what happens first is ill lose the ability to use squad VOIP. The Left Alt key doesnt bring up the mic symbol beside my name anymore.
Shortly after that ill get the 2 second lag spike followed by full loss of game audio.

This happens with steam voice chat, discord, running solo with no voice chat. It doesnt matter. Ive tried damn near every solution
i can find to this and its driving me fucking bonkers. I cant say for sure its the EA app but ive noticed its gotten worse since its
launch. It was annoying but manageable with origin but the EA app (not sure if related). Restart the game and it all works again.

Not sure if relevant but my specs are

Headset is a JBL Quantum 400 plugged into USB

x570 Aorus Elite wifi mobo

Amd Ryzen 7 5800x AM4

16GB Ram

ASUS 3080ti

2gb NVME

Hmm any chance you upgraded to Windows 11 recently? Not sure if it's related but I have a lot of pro-audio stuff and had to revert back to 10 because I was getting a shit-ton of audio glitches (in everything from BF4 to movies etc...) out of fucking no where from Win11.

No still win 10 64 bit

I had problems with that for a bit, turns out the speakers on my monitor ended up taking over during games instead of my actual speakers. I think it was also making my mic and my headphones as the same thing, so I had to undue that too.

Same problem on my gf’s PC. She’s using a razor laptop with windows 11 and i suspected that windows 11 being the issue. It seems like the issue is related maybe to headsets. I bought her the headset and the issue is very similar to what Mudpipe described. While playing in the first game, there is a weird sound heard in the headset, and left alt does not work anymore and audio is lost. Then VOIP comes out if the laptop speakers only. The sound is okay outside bf4 ( youtube etc…) but a restart is required and the same problem happens again.

She also has to re-install directx everytime she restarts the PC for the voip to work at all..

Any idea on how to solve this is greatly appreciated.

Shit! Good catch! My speakers on my monitor do on occasion fuck me around. Im going to disable that and give that a try! Finally something new to try! Thanks!

most of the audio issues I've come across on bf4 has been fixed by making sure you have the desired audio intputs and outputs marked as default in your computer settings. I would start there
Ill look into that. I believe i have it set to default but ill double check. Ill report back tomorrow after i try the couple suggestions in this thread.

If these possible solutions don't work have you tried reinstalling the game? I think Battlefield 4 has a habit of randomly corrupting itself at times. I assume it happens on all maps and not just select ones? Dragon Valley 2015 doesn't like to work for me anymore even though it did only a couple years ago.

Yup, I had a binding problem too. Had to make my audio default to the headphones and then I had to switch to a USB headset and abandon my old headset. Works fine now.

Update:

im cautiously optimistic. I have an ASUS TUF gaming monitor and it has built in speakers that do show up as an audio device named "NVIDIA HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO". Ive disabled them in my sound settings and got a few hours in tonight with no loss of game audio yet.

Ill report back tomorrow with more results after work. I know 1 of you was interested in this as well.

My main monitor is an LG, my 2nd monitor is ASUS. My mic is a blue yeti. For quite a few months last year my mic would randomly be set as default speaker for in-game squad chat, then my monitors started taking over default.

Took quite a while and I can't remember exactly what I did, but it suddenly started working.

When I'm AFK for quite awhile and my computer doesn't shut off, my audio won't work anymore again... So what I have to do is I have to right click on the little speaker icon in the bottom right corner of the taskbar, then "Open Volume Settings," and then I click on "Sound Control Panel." I still have to do this almost daily, but that's all I have to do. I don't have to switch anything around, I just have to click to the Sound Control Panel and then it'll suddenly work.

Weird stuff.

Also worth mentioning, if your PC has bluetooth ability ive had it nuissance connect to random BT devices and see it as a controller and give me weird fuckin issues. I disabled bluetooth as well because i dont really use it. Cant say it helped but i did it to try and eliminate things.
