Doubt about graphics settings

I saw a player in your video using a configuration (a bit unusual for me) in which there was no flying dust so he had no vision limitation, could it be considered cheating since he has the same limitation as the rest of the players? obviously without the condition that is clearly for a totally necessary performance improvement... I'm not trying to blame anyone

Hello,

I can understand the doubt this raises, knowing that at one time, in another game, some players could change the graphics settings of the game to make grass and certain elements disappear, which made the enemies that were hiding visible behind that.

But I'm not at all convinced that the advantage is so great with the graphics settings in BF4 discussed here.

It would become very difficult to discern those who do it for a performance issue versus those who do it to have an advantage. And I would also add that those who have a better graphics card with Ultra graphics settings have an advantage over others. They see more details and see further. There are also other parameters like FOV which can give some advantages. Add to that those who have a bigger high quality screen, better mouse and keyboard, etc. The list would be endless.

Since these settings are accessible to everyone in the game menu, I don't see why this would be considered cheating. It's not like it's a parameter to be edited in a hidden config file.

I'm running an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti with 11GB of RAM and it made my BF4 experience so much more amazing! I mean you can see details in the game that the developers put there for you but that you can't see on lower resolutions or with less GPU power.

Like when I fire my rifle through a tree I can see leaves falling from the tree. I get to read all the ground level graffiti that's been spread around the game. I also get to see the spiritually inspiring pink mist of headshots.

Why I'd want to lessen that part of my enjoyment just to get more kills escapes me. Like I feel sad for the 24/7/365 FLIR users who only see the game in black and white. Yes, they have impressive numbers but they're missing the artistry that went into developing such an amazingly detailed game.

I guess that's the thing for me on people using lower graphics settings for an advantage is what's the diff between that and FLIR? FLIR is even worse IMHO.

Maybe I didn't know how to explain it because I have to translate this from my language, it happens that in the graphic settings I can't find how I could select to have the graphics like this, it reminded me a lot of the alpha of this same game where there was almost no texture, only walls except that there was dust. So if it is not in the menu settings and you have to play with the commands to play like this, would it be cheating?
Just in case I have a screenshot of the player saying that he plays with that setup so he can see behind the dust.

I don't want to single out any particular player either. I don't know if we are referring to the same video that I saw on the forum sent by a player who said not to pay attention to the graphics in the video he submitted, because he reduced the quality to see better at through the mist/fog when Charlie tower go down.

I did a test and I thought it was enough to set all the parameters to LOW in the graphics menu, but I'm not getting exactly the same result either (maybe because the tower was still standing during my test, so there was sunlight). That said, on his video, we still see the mist/fog. It does not disappear completely.

Maybe there are more advanced commands that I don't know to change the graphics more. Your question is interesting.

I redid a test by destroying the tower and I do not arrive at the same result. At the start on the player video, it looks like there are no light effects at all (sun).

Me with low graphics settings for testing only

Except that by reviewing the video of the player, I see many light effects and the sun. Seems like that's just at this position where it's misleading.

Hi Koshmenk,

In the video you are talking about, there was no dust in the air at all after the tower fell? Possible to share a screenshot of that, or even better, a link to the video? I'm not trying to judge the player, but to understand if it is possible and how he did it. And it's how he did it that can make the difference between a honest player optimizing his settings and a player unfairly abusing the system.
