How best to fly aircraft in BF4

Any advice on how to learn to fly in-game competitively? There are some real kick ass pilots and I would like to learn how to use this vehicle without getting taken out 30 seconds after taking off. I use a mouse which seems difficult for flying. Assuming a joystick would be better?
 
Back 20 years ago I used to be a decent pilot in the Battlefield 1942 to Battlefield Vietnam days and I used a joystick but most of the people I have spoken to in BC2, BF3, and BF4 said they used a mouse and keyboard to fly. A handful said they used an Xbox controller. I tried using an Xbox controller myself several years ago and it barely worked. I was able to manage the bare minimum to unlock the UCAV but that was it. Everything else was just painful death to superior opponents.

Suffice to say I have no advice for you on flying but it does seem that mouse and keyboard is a viable method to fly and that a joystick is not required. Perhaps it's just a matter of practice? This is a 10 year old game so most of the really good pilots can have ample experience behind them.
 
Okay Egg here is the thing, there is 2 ways to turn around fast, G force and Speed.

The most G force you got you turn faster, and this depends of the jet you are using.

The speed depends if you are using Stealth or Attack jets, for stealths you got to keep your speed at 311-312 and maybe 313, and for the attack ones you got to keep it at 300-310 but as i said depends of the G forces the jet can handle.

Also you need to use your rudders, i mean your A n D keys, it will help you to turn around faster, that way you are not making a circle and you wont be moving in a straight line.

Theres a lot a videos that can help you with basics stuffs.

Playing loud and dumb is more fun than playing smart, playing smart you got to stay away from danger and that sucks. Your skill is proved when you go straight to the fight, face to face, is not how many kills you got at end of the game is how did you get those kills
