Wow, well that thing is a beast. Asus is one of my favorite manufacturers and the thing looks solid but I would wait for some professional reviews before I bought one. Looks like nice specs, although I don't know how they can claim 900MBPS. That seems like a trick to me. Other than that it looks reeeeeeeeeeaaaallll good.

Yeah, Hilly. Just getting used to the new normal.

Hey, does anybody else use the USB storage function on their router? I'm debating between building a new computer for media storage and sharing, or using the USB port on the router.

Any thoughts, pros or cons?

it's nice storage, i used to use it on my router but my router kept fucking up... but when it works, you can access this info from anyplace on your network. very convenient

I never use the usb function on a router.....WAY TOO SLOW.....

get a NAS Box...

the usb function is slow as hell...

A nas box with a gigabit nic is what you need...

the one I have is kinda old.....

here is what I recommend....

d-link dns-323

do not buy a dns-320(doesnt support 1000MBps speed) buy at least a dns-321....

I run 2 WD caviar green 2tb in a raid (mirror) setup so I have 2tb of double copied data....

I have 2 of these boxes in my house.....

That one has been discontinued on NewEgg, but I just have to have a free port on my router, and plug this thing on in and that's all I need?

I like it alot but i have had 2 deads sent to me at different times...

Other than that issue it totally rocks...the D-Link is a tiny bit faster but nothing you would notice unless you had them side by side....
