I've play this game for years and never knew you could do this

I have no idea what they said but those are some of the most French-looking men I have ever seen.
No one asked, but...

Elvis Gratton is like the Elvis Presley from Temu. He is from Quebec, but he is a hardcore Canadian federalist. He’s always going on about how much he loves Canada, but in this super over-the-top, kinda dumb way. He trashes Quebec culture and acts like everything from the States is amazing.

Here the translation :
  • Excuse me, are you Canadian? You have an accent.
  • I’m a Québécois Canadian, a French Canadian French.
  • Oh really?
  • A North American Frenchman, a French-speaking Québécois Canadian.
  • That’s right.
  • A Québécois who speaks Canadian French French. We’re North American Francophone Canadians and Franco-Québécois.
  • We’re French Canadians from Quebec. Québécois Canadians. That’s it.

Is the difference between French spoken in Canada and French spoken in France that noticeable?

Is the difference between French spoken in Canada and French spoken in France that noticeable?
Yes the difference is huge. We don't use the same expressions and words. The swear words are not the same. We don't talk in the same way either. It's why when we can pick an audio language in a movie, there is French from France and French Canada

What do you mean by "We don't talk in the same way"? Are you saying the grammar is different? The pronunciation? Can you understand each other if you were to talk about a topic without vernacular words being used?

Yes we can understand each other if we use common words and no jargon. The grammar is the same. We use the same dictionary. It's the same language but Quebec is known for it's jargon, and french from some region of France may use weird words (verlan) like Chelou instead of Louche. Like saying PiciousSus instead of Suspicious.

Even if we use the same vocabulary, it's easy to spot the French baguette (France) vs French poutine (Quebec). The accent is really different. You can spot it after one sentence. And when a Quebec artist go in France for a while, his accent change.

And of course it's not all people of Quebec who use the Quebec jargon. Many talk the international french.

Fascinating. So are you the baguette or the poutine?

As an Anglophile I am supposed to detest French and its speakers but I find French spoken by a woman to be irresistible. From a man it always sounds fruity to me.
