Locking on in ucap?

So I play secondary gunner with soflam a lot and I think I saw a thread about this before but I want some clarification. When can I lock things with soflam coming out of spawn? Like how many seconds should I wait when they're flying out spawn before I should lock. Is there a defining line. I try to lock on things after about a 5-10 count after taking off if they are leaving uncap (not hovering over their spawn). I just don't want to get accusations and don't want to get my driver (or whomever fires at the lock) in trouble.

Props to Superman for that sick 93-1 K/D game in as LAV driver on zavod today.

If you open up the map you should see a colored in section and a greyed out area. While they are still in the grey, they are in uncap.
However, on some maps the greyed out area may extend into an out of bounds area.
The sides of uncap are harder to tell, unless you know where the lines are for certain (every map varies) you should only engage once they cross the forward uncap line.

Out of bounds is fair game though.

Once they cross into the playable (colored) area, you're allowed to engage them.
If they shoot or use equipment prior to leaving uncap, you're allowed to engage them.

A count is a good idea, you could use landmarks that are known in-bounds and wait for aircraft to cross them, or you can memorize the maps so well that you know precisely where the boundary line is for the enemy uncap and therefore know exactly when they have crossed into the field. If you're doing this, be sure you know your boundaries and record your gameplay.

Yeah its usually not an issue, as I like to chill in the first 2-3 points on our side. Though on flood zone if your on the bridge/highway you can spot all the way down the road to the helis so I just want to make sure I'm not locking in their spawn. Ill definitely be using the landmarks and spotting plus the map. My spotting is L bumper as I use a controller
