I used to have wireless mouses, but for some reason after several months of use, they stopped communicating well with the PC. And that's when it didn't completely stop working. I decided to buy a wired one and I've never had any problems. The only downside is that the wire crumbles over time, but it still working well. And I never have to change batteries and lose signal.

Pick what fits your hand and/or grip.
I use a Razer Naga from my MMO days. The extra buttons are still nice to have for shooters as well. For example I use them as my strategem buttons in Helldivers. They are also how I switch weapons/gadgets/seats in BF4. One is primary, two is secondary, three is first gadget, four is second, five is grenade, and six is knife. This is probably more than you need for an FPS though so unless you play MMORPGs you can get something cheaper that does the everything you need it to.
I have never had good performance in FPS games or other games that need fast reaction speed with wireless mice. There has always been a noticeable delay to me. Maybe I have just used the wrong mice but the cord doesn't bother me enough to justify this delayed response.
