It is and it really shouldn't be. They should replace the foliage, smoke, and other things with blank squares if you set your graphics too low. Punish these people for having shitty computers!
You will likely never get a video of me doing this. I used to crash all the time, but now I have 2 ssds in and rarely crash. Unlike you, I don't switch to the winning team, and I usually stay on for the loss. Stop projecting.
If you're talking about me, I don't have "shit graphics", so that is irrelevant. I can run, and do run, at the highest for bf4. BF4 is not really impressive anyway, in my opinion.
Fluff is completely correct, running the game higher than low just puts you at a disadvantage.
Luckily only the biggest try hards actually care about this. Me, I am comfortable running on high and sucking.

Fps isn't the issue, running the game on low lets you see through certain solid objects and terrain lol. I also just like having ~700fps because it feels good vs whatever I get at max. More frames =/= more skill.

I wish I could play on high settings :'( I lag bad enough already though my graphics card wants to commit seppuku. I used to play and everyone was invisible and I could only see their guns half the time. thankfully that stopped for me the last few months!

That's not a graphics card issue. It is a bug in the game. It started happening for me on Dragon Valley a few years ago but thankfully I haven't noticed it outside of that map. I wish I knew what caused it.
On a server? In most cases, yes, it is.
What is the reason for this being necessary on a server?

i got it on many different maps: siege, rogue, golmund, flood zone, parcel. I updated uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics drivers and actually used an older version of the driver and it seemed to fix it. when it was happening my gpu would be at like 97 degrees vs now running around 80 (on a laptop).
