So recommendations for a four wheel drive vehicle that's decently comfy (heated seats, leather), can tow around 4-5k lbs, off road decently (not a wrangler but still enough to get around well), and is under $15,000?

So far I have found a 2005 Toyota 4Runner Limited V8 with 80k miles on it for $14,500. The skid plates and body on frame design seems to be kinda nice...I was thinking of lifting it a couple of inches (lift kits are reasonable for this vehicle it seems) and sticking on my old burb's BFG TAKO 2's 265 70R17s.

Any other options?

What type of vehicle are you looking for? SUV? Truck? Both are fairly easy to come by. I'm more of a truck person, I prefer GMC or Ford, but that's really up to you and what you need and want.

4 Runner or Tacoma from that era.  Those Tacomas are indestructible and will last a lifetime (unless they hit a concrete barrier on an off-ramp).

The RAV4 is a great option.  I'd stay away from the cheap Jeeps.  I've seen too many of them on the side of the highway.

Around $4300 in repairs. Insurance deductible is $400 below 75% value. So hopefully once they have it on the rack they won't find anything else. The truck still has 100,000 miles left in it. 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LT at 168,000 miles and some aftermarket upgrades.

We pay annually so last year it was $1281 total. This year it'll be closer to $1800 something. With a new vehicle that may increase as well.

They ended up totalling the Burb, frame damage after putting it up on the rack. :(

So off to looking into a new vehicle.

I ended up lucking out. Found a 2010 Nissan Titan PRO-4X $3300 under what it should be at for the mileage (119k @ $17,000, fully loaded and aftermarket exhaust). So gonna hopefully get that tomorrow. It needs new tires, but other then that and some general maintenance, hopefully it will be a good buy. A mechanic/cop friend of mine is coming out to help buy it with me.

Here is what I ended up getting, a mechanic friend of mine vetted it out and checked it out. Took a couple of hours but it was worth it. $16,500 (put down $10,500) for it, mechanically sound with only some paint repair needed and a tune-up + spark plugs changing (DIY with my mechanic friend, the former I will take it into a shop since it will take forever to do it otherwise). It will need new tires before winter but I should have a bit stocked away by then so I won't be dropping an extra $1100 right off the bat.
