The biggest trend on social media today is why ‘American Sniper‘ wasn’t awarded an Oscar. The winner for Best Picture, “Birdman,” wasn’t even in the top 50 for gross earnings.

The Michael Keaton movie, Birdman, grossed just under $38 million compared to American Sniper (6 nominations) which grossed right at $400 million. Although American Sniper did win an Oscar for “best sound editing” the awards Chris Kyle won in real life are what matters today:

• 5 Bronze Stars with Combat Valor
• Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Valor
• 2 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals with Combat Valor
• 2 Combat Action Ribbons

• Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation
• Navy Good Conduct Medal with 2 Service Star
• National Defense Service Medal

Although I feel bad for Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper, Chris Kyle won awards that he earned long before there was a movie about him. My advice for Hollywood, in the words of the “Bad News Bears,” take that Best Picture Oscar and shove it where the son doesn’t shine!

All is fair in love and war. Call a sniper what you want, but he's the one alive at the end of the day to stand with the winners.

PS: Cowardice would be running away or abandoning your comrades imo. Sniping is just that, sniping. He's doing his job. It just happens to be a roll that's part of an overall strategy in war. Besides, not everyone can hit moving/non moving targets hundreds of meters away on the first shot when it matters most.

also, just because birdman didnt gross as much as american sniper did, doesnt mean it isnt a good movie. of course a lot of people are gonna go watch a patriotic film, that doesnt make the film better than all the other ones up for oscars.
