"Racist" reports

Dude, the servers' admins only want the folks not to say three words. Three. More than two, less than four.
There's one of them specifically that can be the worse of all these three imo, due to its nature, origin, and context.
Is that hard for people not to say it? Or do you want people to become like Norris Forsythe from Red Dead Redemption 2?

Some of ya'll 9-year olds need to watch Chappelle's Show and develop some thicker skin.

Has the world really become this fragile?

That is an insult and a clear violation of battlefield agency rules. Be careful friend.

Correct, and in the most recent report here, the "offender" said none of the three.
Do you know what they didn't say it? Because a chat filter exists. If it didn't exist, they would be saying it already. Instead, what they do is say things that means exactly the same thing but without triggering the chat filter. Any person with more than two braincells would have noticed that by now.

Wat? So you went from "it's only three words, not two, not four" like a retarded Dr Seuss to now "any word that can be construed or implied or mispronounced or whatever other fragility that fills my Huggies should be bannable".

My brother in Christ get your house checked for carbon monoxide.

I'm waiting for you to say "This is against my freedom of speech!"

It would complete my "this guy is a nimrod" checklist.

You would be waiting a long time. I'm Canadian, so I dont cling to fairy tales such as freedom of speech.

I just use my God-given gift of unbiased critical thinking to take a word such as African to be exactly what it is, an adjective describing country of origin.

If the racist word is what pops in your head when you hear or read "African", the problem is with you. But hey, Americans gonna America I guess.

And yo if African means the word you want it to mean, then your name is equally racist as proven by a document posted on this forum a little while back typifying a whole list of racist dog-whistle language.

So change your name, nimrod.

Sabertooth, what he is saying is that most of the people who get banned for these reports are banned for evading the filter. That is a violation of Rule 3. See here : https://banzore.com/forums/threads/bf4-server-rules-2020.6732/

Personally I don't care what people say and while I am not myself bothered by racist words per se I am bothered by people who think they can flout the rules they have agreed to follow. If they are willing to disregard the rule against racism why wouldn't they also be willing to disregard the rule against team killing? What about team griefing? Perhaps the Battlefield-wide rule against hacking is optional for them as well. Admittedly this is a slippery slope argument but the kinds of people who disregard a simple rule like "No Racism" are also usually the ones with a cavalier enough attitude to blatantly disregard one rule and then violate another and another and another until they are stopped.

So I think you're missing the point of the rule-breaking in the first place. What people say is not really the problem. It is the flippancy with which they say it that is the problem because that casual rule-breaking mentality is an indicator of behavior which will often lead to other prohibited actions.

If you want to discuss whether or not racism should be against the rules then that's fine however I think it will be a losing battle for you to do so. Most of the people here don't want to see N-words and J-words and C-words thrown around with reckless abandon - something which is certain to happen if the rule were lifted.

I have noticed that it is a common occurrence among young people today ( not saying you are one of them ) to throw around words which may offend others without any concern for the potential consequences which the utterance of these words may have on them. Perhaps this is a result of their being raised where the primary method of communication something as impersonal as a text message or discord comment. Maybe it's the result of a general ennui from over-stimulation of constant instant gratification. Maybe it's just the pervasion of shitty ( in my opinion ) music and culture which desensitizes them to the usage of certain words and phrases. Whatever the cause of it it is certain that the use of this kind of language will increase if the rule is lifted and that language is liable to drive away more players - of which we have precious few enough of already - from the game ( and more specifically Banzore's servers ) than you are likely to lose from keeping the easy-to-follow rule in the first place.

Some fair points Obama. I agree with you, and I am 100% against racism, racist chat, and trying to dodge the filter. I also agree with your position of "what broken rule will they stop at".

In the case of this one word (African, and whether the adverb be positive or negative), on its own, I think it is dangerous to label as an unspeakable word, because analogous to your scenario, at what point do we stop banning words? Fast forward 100 years, and we throw babies in prison for pre-crime "for your safety".

I do notice the guy who said "thieving African" has been banned for more serious words. I am not defending him, I am defending our ability to use words that on their own are not racist and moreso I am on the offensive against being fragile and weak.

I stand by my position that if someone reads "African" and they immediately think the bad word, THEY are the problem. They have some subconscious shit they need to work through. They need to get out of the house and engage with people.

Banning of words, banning of "being mean" are regression and societal decay, not enlightenment. These things make us dumber and ineffectual. The current trajectory of fake nicety and thin-skinned offended culture are creating an upcoming generation that cannot and will not fight against things that might need fighting for, simply because they will not know how because they were never allowed to.

Compelled speech is dangerous.

Weak men create dangerous times.

Being uncomfortable makes you stronger.

These isolated and offended only-child kids need to watch Django, Life, and Roots, if they can get through it without shitting themselves, and watch some Theo Von, Louis CK, George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, and other free-thinking comedians.

Too many endocrine disruptors in the water supply.

TLDR: ban racists, but stop crying foul for every little thing that makes you uncomfortable.

I agree. People have said terrible things about me in games. So terrible that I have already forgotten them. I try not to let it get to me. Sometimes I fail and it does but I'm only human. At the end of the day none of these words had any lasting effect on me. None of these things people said to me ever caused me to report them because none of them broke any of the rules. As long as people stick to utilizing the rules as a foundation for their reports I see no problem.

Frankly I found the comment calling someone a "thieving African" funny. So too would I have been amused by someone being called a "thieving Belgian" , "pilfering Pakistani", "larcenous Londoner", or "sticky-fingered San Franciscan". I also agree that immediately defaulting to the thought of racism upon seeing "thieving African" is prejudicial. It makes no statement about the race of the person, only that they are a thief. However, as you said, he was banned for other words, and not that statement itself so this is a moot point. Perhaps if he called someone a "parsimonious Judean" it would be a more appropriate reason to issue a ban.

Can you explain this phrase to me?
claims of racism are a device used by bolshevists (and unwitting NPCs) to actively manage public opinion with respect to an observable reality.

and who are bolshevists? why do we model society after that? rhetorical

i'd like to also point out that xenophobia defined means fear of foreigners. if the hypothetical foreigners have eaten your tax base and have destroyed your culture & community, it is no longer xenophobia. its an observable fact. the degradation of quality of life is a tangible, identifiable and quantifiable fact. perhaps even the antithesis of a cultural strength.

you could say that before imposed mass immigration, xenophobia was the fear that foreigners would eat your tax base and destroy your community. now that it has happened, it is no longer xenophobia and not breaking a rule.
