Well, I downloaded it yesterday and played for a while... I like the graphics, etc. Had more negatives (for me) than positives... maybe I didn't have some settings correct, etc.
What I didn't like
- the overall game play. Didn't know where I was going half the time,
- too much chatter on the radio, near by. Couldn't tell who was talking (my squad vs nearby squad/players)
- getting in/out of vehicles - slow as hell... why????
- spawn system - had a lot of problems with spawn, which was frustrating - not sure why
I'll give it a few more tries over the next couple days to see if I can resolve some of the issues I had
1. The gameplay is supposed to be a little slower than your regular BF4 type game. There is a lot more strategy involved in looking at the map, friendly units and reported enemy units. You have to play awhile before you start to understand the flow and where the chokepoints and battles are.
2. The chatter is tough. You should try being a squad leader. Not only do you have your squad, the people nearby in game, but also other squad leaders coming in over the radio calling out contacts, calling for rides and formulating strategies. It's one of the best parts of the game though because nearly everyone communicates. A good Squad Leader (SL) will help with excess chatter.
3. In real life, you don't just magic in and out of vehicles. You have to open doors, climb in, etc. They try to emulate that so you can't just pop in and out of safety or otherwise glitch the vehicles.
4. The spawn system probably worked exactly as it is supposed to, but it's not familiar like most other FPS games. Once you understand the concept and the mechanics, it makes a lot more sense. Sometimes it sucks because bad decisions were made or shit happened, but it's more realistic.
IThis game isn't for everyone. If you just like to come on and blast stuff, it may not be for you.
I like to squad lead. I hardly ever fire my rifle as an SL. I'm too busy directing my squad and coordinating with other SL's.
But there's an excitement to trying to remain calm and use your brain and words while the world falls to shit around you. You'll be calling out contacts, directing medics to pick up units, building fortifications and weapon systems all while bullets are flying everywhere and dudes are dropping constantly.
If you can't hop on with me, I would try and join a squad and just let them know that you are new and ask how you can help. 9 times out of 10, somebody is going to help you and will discover what this game is all about.
I guarantee you haven't played anything like this before.
