Thoughts on "KYS" or "Kill Yourself" used in chat

Do you think it is appropriate for someone to type "KYS" or "Kill Yourself" in game?

Me personally, I don't like when people say this. I’ve dealt with horrid depression for a large chunk of my life. But I still slip up and say it sometimes and I always regret it, I'm not proud of it.

All this to say, bZ doesn't restrict its use, nor do we have any plans to do so anytime in the near future. I will not allow my personal beliefs to interfere with that, just like many other things. So, go for it, but just don't go overboard with it (just like anything else).

thank you for your thoughts. was looking for opinions.

I achieved what I wanted to do. I opened a dialogue about a topic I found worthy of discussion.

Also- I never mentioned a "ban", just perhaps a temporary mute.

Obama, I have witnessed people actually do it. Never affected me afterwards (overtly) but I just thought it was not with the nature of the game. It goes beyond "trash talk".

Theres no need to be a cunt about a conversation to those who commented negatively. Apparently your'e not evolved enough to have a conversation.

Thanks for your input.
Who's being a cunt? I'm certainly not. I'm discussing this in a calm, reasonable manner. I disagree with your suggestion to restrict the use of a certain phrase, that's all. At no point did I attack you personally or do anything else that could be considered cunty.

Obie, the "cunt" comment wasn't for you. If i didnt clarify, apologies. -- it was for those who chose hyperbole instead of conversation.

To continue with this a little, we will only take action if it's under extreme circumstances. Typically if something like this is occurs, the player is also receiving a toxicity ban from Battlefield Agency.

Even I am not a huge fan of people showing this side of toxicity towards others, but if it's the occasional message here and there, then it's rather pointless for us to act upon it. Other than that, Frank sums it up perfectly.

Something is always going to offend someone so what is the limit? Why stop at censoring "kys"? Why not censor mom jokes? Surely someone is going to be really offended by them. What about calling people faggots? I'm certain there are gay people who play here who find that term offensive. How about jokes about people with missing fingers, or jokes about cat owners, or penis size, or any other possible thing in the world? Do you see how this is a never ending sequence of banned language?
In Canada, and probably elsewhere in the world, it's illegal to incite someone to commit suicide. It's in the Criminal Code. I'd say that's a good indicator that it's crossed the line.

Whether I'm for or against controlling the chat at this point is another story, and it's not very relevant. It's up to the administrators to decide, because they're the ones who will be dealing with the conflicts of the plebs.

Canada is a leftist hellhole, of course it's illegal to do that. There was a case here in the US in Massachusetts dealing with the same thing. It was ridiculous then and it's ridiculous now. Incitement itself is ridiculous and establishes a very dangerous precedent of criminalizing speech. This is a tool used by statists and paternalists to control the thoughts and actions of the populace under the guise of "protecting" them from themselves while in reality ensuring a more docile populace to preserve the state's grip on power. This law is merely an accessory law used to prime the people for acceptance of the actions of the state to criminalize speech. It rationalizes it for people by criminalizing something morally wrong - cajoling people into killing themselves - while ignoring the fundamental danger to the peoples' rights that is created by restricting any speech. This is no different than states justifying the prohibition of things like encryption by declaring it's to stop terrorists or child abuse. Ultimately it's an appeal to emotion by tugging on the heartstrings of empathetic people.

These servers are ( to the best of my knowledge ) not hosted in Canada and thus are not subject to Canadian law. Even if it were hosted in Canada the law you appear to be referring to seems to only criminalize the action(s) of the person doing the "counseling" and not the facilitator(s) of these actions such as phone service carriers, internet providers, or server hosts. It is however possible that such a law which does extend this offense to these facilitators but I don't feel like looking that up at the moment since it's irrelevant to Banzore's servers anyway.

Seriously, why are so many of you keen on controlling other people? If someone offends you either tell them to fuck off or ignore them. This is not a difficult premise. You don't need to go running to mommy and daddy every time the neighbor kid calls you a poopy head.

In Canada, it's illegal to give medical advice without a proper medical background. A.k.a. not being a doctor yourself.
This is illegal in many places. It's mostly about providing a service without the proper licensing and qualifications to do so. Telling your friend to take some ibuprofen for a headache is not same as operating a clinic where you tell people to go give themselves coffee enemas to cure their cancer.

yall are pregnant, end of the thread, pregnant as fuck.
