Just curious: on numerous occasions - all the time maybe? - when I join a server where a gape is in progress, I am always joined to the winning side.

I’m actually the opposite. Im always on the gape team.
It is for sure, you want to be one doing the gaping. Its all in what you see I guess. I have noticed when the round changes and scrambles, it appears to me that the higher scoring guys all get scrambled to one team. Again, is this 100%? I doubt it, however it is 100% for me, as it seems that way when i actually look and pay attention. If that is the case, then no wonder so many rounds are 1 side conquest players, 1 side guys that enjoy, being gaped. Broken record response, conquest mode balancing should be based on flag cap points.<------ period.
It's because your rugged good looks infuriate the enemy team which causes them to play 150% more aggressively, thus balancing the server. It's like the !disperse command but instead it's !arouse...
Okay so it must be based on intelligence. Dumb guys are joined to gaping team, smart guys are joined to gaped team.
If I were an admin, that's how I would do it anyway.
We need all players that captures flags to be dispersed

It's likely just the team someone left from hence opening a slot for you to join. Nothing more than coincidence really.
