Well, this is a new one for me.

On Saturday I was on BZ1 minding my own effin' business and the power went out for my neighborhood. When the power came back on I tried to get on and EA said my credentials were not valid. Fine. I didn't have time to mess with it on Saturday so here I am today and now EA says my account doesn't exist anymore! WTF?

The exact error is: "We couldn’t find your EA Account."

And what does their useless website tell me to do to get help?

"Log on to your account and open a chat"

FFS.

Any ideas or advice here?

Thanks, 'Trang

Well, shit.

Got a dm from a friend on another site and he says he thinks EA is bouncing old accounts to force people into paying monthly to access games. I hope this isn't the case.

YIKES! will check and advise on my side.

This is almost certainly illegal. EA fucks my account up all the time: EA App will say I have EA Play which I don't, games will show as not installed when they are etc...

What I do is use the EA App Recovery in the start menu and do a full reset. If that doesn't work delete the cache folder in /User/AppData/Local/EALaunchHelper and re-install the app. Don't bother with EA support they are entirely useless.

I am well and truly fucked. EA says my account no longer exists but if I try to make a new account it says my phone number is already associated with another account...the one they say doesn't exist!

EA chat support was about six klicks past useless.

Stupid douche wanted me to logon to the account that I can't logon to to verify who I was. At least he acknowledged the account exists.

I'll need to create a new account at EA and buy the damned game over again. Not that bad of course but a PITA.

My question here is do I need to create a new BZ account to associate with my donations?

It's Mobius's fault again obviously.
Have you cleared the cache as mentioned and are you absolutely sure that you are entering your credentials correctly? My question may seem ridiculous, but when you haven't logged in for a long time, you can easily make a mistake.

Otherwise, what happens if you use the forgotten password link? Does it say the account doesn't exist? Apparently you can even recover the password using your phone number. You should try all methods.

If nothing works, did you try on another computer and network? I would try to reboot the modem / router too.

My guess... maybe when you ran out of power, your modem got a new IP address that is perhaps banned/blocked by EA from logging in, but the error message is generic. I would try with another IP address, for example with your phone on mobile data, to connect to battlelog with the browser.

Bad shutdowns can corrupt the browser cache. Clear the browser cache and try again. I'm fairly certain Edge and Chrome share a cache, too, since they're both Chromium-based. If the EA App makes use of a Chromium-based backend it may as well (I doubt the geeks at EA created a new browser interface just for their app and Chromium is open-source).

Thanks for the advice guys. I did all of those things and then some more. No dice.

I've asked Mobius to ban my LT account on the game servers (at least for now) just to head off anyone who might be able to get into the account. I deeply appreciate his help here.

I'll get a new account started up and should be able link it to this forum account.

See you folks on the Battlefield sometime soon!

;)

Long EA did the same shit to me.
If you notice I am now Firedoc11 instead of plain old Firedoc.
For the life of me I could not logon with my old credentials and you are correct EA customer service does the least that they can do all because I used to have Play but I let it expired and could not use my same credentials to log onto my account from that time on.

Is technical support can send a verification code to your phone number + email to confirm your identity and then find a way to give you access to your account again?

If :
  1. When trying to create an account, it says that your phone number is already associated with an account
  2. Technical support confirms the existence of the account
  3. If you try to reset your password via the forgotten password link and it says the account does not exist

...you should turn in full Karen mode and insist with the technical support to explain why this inconsistency occurred. If I were you, I wouldn't give up just yet, even if it's fun to start a soldier from scratch.

Sorry to insist, but for my part when I try to reset YOUR password, I can have the code sent for verification by SMS or email (yours). What happens on your side when you do this? Do you receive the verification code? If so and you try to connect afterwards, is that where it still fails? I insist because I would like to help you and at the same time, it prepares me in case it happens to me.

I like your new name tho...
